
Mr. Nelson handles environmental and land use cases for citizens. He also litigates matters in areas such as professional malpractice, contract disputes, property disputes, admiralty, negligence, product liability and other torts.
Mr. Nelson's land use and environmental practice has served citizens and community associations in urban, suburban, and agricultural areas. On these clients' behalf, he has litigated the enforcement of water quality, wetlands, forest preservation, noise and air quality regulations; the siting of rubblefills and quarry uses; the pollution of urban neighborhoods by industrial facilities; the development of rural land for non-agricultural uses; and the introduction of high-density uses in suburban neighborhoods. Formerly a partner at Anderson, Coe and King, where he handled medical malpractice defense as well as environmental matters, he now selectively handles medical malpractice cases for plaintiffs. Since he opened his firm in 1997, Mr. Nelson has represented clients in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Geneva, Switzerland, the Maryland Court of Appeals, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and circuit courts in many of the counties in Maryland. He has also represented clients before the Maryland Department of the Environment and numerous zoning agencies.
Mr. Nelson graduated from Haverford College and the University of Maryland School of Law. He has been licensed to practice law in Maryland since 1981. Martindale-Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys, has given Mr. Nelson its highest possible rating.
DAVID S. LYNCH
Mr. Lynch graduated from the College of William and Mary and the Rutgers University School of Law. While at Rutgers University, he was an Associate Articles Editor for the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion and was a member of the Environmental Law Society. After graduating from Law school, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Thomas E. Marshall in the Circuit Court for Harford County, MD. Mr. Lynch is a member of the Maryland Bar.
MICHAEL I. KROOPNICK
Mr. Kroopnick is of counsel to the law offices of G. Macy Nelson. Mr. Kroopnick focuses his practice on land-use law, administrative law, affordable housing finance, and selective medical malpractice, product liability, and wrongful death cases on behalf of plaintiffs. Prior to becoming of counsel, Mr. Kroopnick practiced law with the federal government, where he focused on administrative appeals, and with a mid-size firm in Arlington, Virginia, where he represented individual clients, homeowners associations, and insurance companies as both plaintiffs and defendants in tort and breach-of-contract cases. Mr. Kroopnick holds a JD from the University of Maryland, School of Law and MPP from the University of Maryland, School of Public Policy. While in law school, he served on the executive board of the Moot Court Board. Prior to earning his JD and MPP, Mr. Kroopnick earned his BA from American University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and from the University’s Honors Program. He is a member of the Bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
